I have the same problem. I can't shut down. This first happened after upgrading from Karmic. I thought it might be a problem with the upgrade process, so I did a clean reinstall. The problem reappears. Not sure what info on my computer you might want, or what command to type to get the info you need. The model is a MSI VR220 portable. Cheers
