According to bootchart, I had about 30sec boot time on jaunty, 80secs on karmic and, finally, 100 secs on lucid now. No much difference in the set-up from the rc.d point of view, I remember I got read sendmail at some point. The trend, for me at least here, that the more boot-up optimization are offered the longer the boot-up time gets. Also, as I mentioned on a completely different hardware with start-up disk it got just ridiculous.
