This is not a package bug, but a local configuration issue.
/usr/bin/python no longer points to python2.6 as pointed out by this
error:

ValueError: /usr/bin/python does not match the python default version.
It must be reset to point to python2.6

Can you paste the output of "ls -l /usr/bin/python" in terminal?
