Jeremy, The Ubuntu Karmic Koala where I had problems with the USB was installed in a hard disk that is connected to the PC through a USB cable. I used my day to day Windows 7 notebook to upgrade Ubuntu to Ubunto Lucid Lynx but this was a big mistake as the upgrade damaged the Windows boot and I had to recover completely the windows 7 notebook with a loss of some files and most of all time. I did not completed the test as I had to attend the reinstallation of programs. As soon as I complete the installation and have some time I will return to the tests. However the upgrade of Ubuntu seemed to be OK.
