What goes wrong The sound stops for no reason I can see. I was playing music from a CD with vlc media player and sound was ok. Later I tried to play an avi file with vlc picture was fine but no sound. Also other media packages and system sounds were not working either There was a sound icon in the panel near clock showing it was working and not muted. I looked at the sounds in preferences everything said I should have sound, nothing was muted. This has happened twice before each time a reboot has solved the problem. Ubuntu 6.06 Hope this helps
