I experience exactly the situation described in this bug. However, the laptop is a ASUS X51R:
When battery powered, the GUI of Ubuntu freezes (possibly problem with power-management). With AC supply no problem occurs. Hardware: Laptop ASUS X51R CPU Celeron M520 Graphics: ATI Radion Xpress 1100 Ubuntu Versions: 9.10, 10.04 RC (latter from Live-CD) -Hangup happens when booted shortly after starting up X. Don't get to sign-in dialog. -If AC power is disconnected after boot up (Gnome active). GUI freezes within seconds. -[AltGr][SysReq][k] does not get the system responsive again. Using boot option acpi=off results in booting up and using the system is fine with battery. However power-management functions are not present. Thanks a lot Thomas -- 9.10 - Toshiba Satellite L30-113 freezes when on battery power, when AC is plugged out https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
