If someone can talk me through how to apply the patch, I'll be happy to test it to confirm that it fixes the problem. Problem is, I've no experience doing patches, or compiling from source for that matter, so I don't know what I need to do.
What I've done so far is downloaded the source files, as well as the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics-dev package.
