I wanted to add to my previous comment: one of the things that bugged me with Mac's interface is the left-side buttons.and their counter- intuitive nature. Windows-style buttons are common, useful, make sense. But I don't like Windows as OS, I would much rather use Linux based OS. I like Ubuntu a lot. But if I am counting on using it for years to come I want to be sure that whoever is involved in developing it does not position it as merely a software project, but rather as a mature platform, something reliable. This requires spending time learning about people's habits, use cases etc. If you don't do this early enough, guess what, users will leave.
