An update, I was running xubuntu on an old laptop (Pentium II) and it didn't freeze but it dropped some kernel errors when I received a message on the phone and also I was not able to read some folder, the console popped up messages saying that it was not able to get the file size (I believe I have seen that marked as a bug in the kernel).
Yesterday I decided to give a try to Feisty on that laptop, did a dist- upgrade and everything went fine except for one upgrade(slocate), solve it and fixed some problems with fstab, now it recognized my drives as scsi instead of IDE. I wanted to know if the new kernel would solve my problems, and yes, now it works perfectly, not locking or hanging, and I'm able to copy files back and forth between the phone and the PC (As far as I have been able to test). Just in case, the data you were missing in the previous report (when it used to fail): Kernel version: 2.6.17-11-generic lsusb report: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0421:04bd Nokia Mobile Phones Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 I'll keep testing feisty with my phone to see if there are no other issues. -- kubuntu edgy freezes when USB phone plugged in https://launchpad.net/bugs/76495 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
