It seems this bug is affecting me as well, however only update upgrading to Kubuntu Lucid. My internal mic worked perfectly fine in Karmic, however since the upgrade all I get is static (recording through Audacity, and conversation attempts through Skype). Tried the backports fix, and still no dice. I have the exact same hardware as Jorge Rios reported on 4/21, but using the updated kernel (2.6.32-21).
