Although the usplash problem was marked as "fixed" on 2009-10-14 I gave it a try and removed the splash option from the grub entry. The splash screen went away but the problem did not. Could it be that we have two similar problems, and only one was usplash-related and fixed? If so, shouldn't we open a new bug?
