Hey Jeremy! In 9.10 this has worked from time to time, and I'm pretty convinced it varies between the kernel versions.
In 10.04 LTS (Release Candidate) updates as of today, it does not work again. I will try to follow what you ask me to do, and report back. Thanks for showing interest!
