Just added  "video=VGA1:800x600" to end of linux line (without the quotes) and 
booted (<CTRL-X>),
No change in the outcome.

I did a diff between this Xorg.0.log and one previously without that
option.  It made no difference. Here is the diff:

$ diff Xorg.0.log_withKVM Xorg.0.log
