Last night I managed to download the i386 release candidate and burn it to disk. I heard no sound on install and didn't want to go through the process of upgrading to allow playing of various file types. But in clicking the volume control on top, I noticed both that it wasn't muted (a bug in previous versions I'd heard about) and that that both audio devices were recognized. So I changed the audio output to the ATI HDMI and clicked to play a preset radio channel. My dog jumped in surprise (rock not being to her taste, though she forgives you of course). So great job, folks! I'll do a clean install on this machine when the final version comes out later in the week(Vista of course being ornery cuz not having been reinstalled in over a year). Maybe I'll finally be able to use this machine as a HTPC in Ubuntu!
