I freshly installed Mint 8 Helena Main x64, but it didn't work properly because of out-of-date drivers for this very new PC, so I installed a few extra driver-related packages such as iwlagn, firmware-iwlwifi, etc.
As I said, I didn't do anything except run the Firewall GUI dialog once and only once, and immediately this created a problem as described.
