I've tested with the latest lucid iso from here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20100419.1/lucid-desktop-i386.iso
And I still encounter the problem. I've run apport-collect, as can be seen above. For this I've used a karmic live CD, but I can run it again in lucid, if this is needed.
