Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I have 2 ICQ accounts configured in my Pidgin, with their character encoding
set to cp1251 (Cyrillic).
Usual chat messages are shown correctly (converted from cp1251 to utf8 as per
my locale).
However when anyone asks me for authorization to include in their contact list,
a small grey pane is shown at the bottom of the contact list, with
wrongly-encoded Cyrillic characters (as if they were converted from cp1251 to
utf8 twice).

This is probably related to Pidgin bug 11471 -
http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/11471 (as well as
http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/1645)
This bug is kept unfixed in mainline Pidgin, version by version, due to some
concerns of Pidgin devs.
If Ubuntu maintainers could integrate the patch mentioned there, it would be
great.

Thank you in advance.
