You can get the latest source of the original Rhythmbox here: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/rhythmbox/0.12/rhythmbox-0.12.8.tar.bz2 Unpack it somewhere, then: sudo apt-get build-dep rhythmbox and you will have all the libraries needed to build it. Go to the directory where you unpacked the source archive, and: ./configure --enable-uninstalled-build && make Afterwards you can run the original rhythmbox with: shell/rhythmbox Maybe somebody will take the time to create a package with the original source. So far, this was the easiest solution for me and it works just great.
