@Jerone Take a closer look at your patch, we don't want to disable hdparm as a whole from running, we just want to be able to "opt out" of this global APM config, which you can't do without editing the function file /lib/hdparm/hdparm-functions. A good compromise would be to add smarts to the config file parser which allows one to disable the global apm policy. It could be as simple as setting apm = skip and then dropping it completely from the argument list. hdparm is a very necessarily utility for things like disabling the cache and other things.
