I am confirming: same problem, although on Xubuntu Edgy Herd 5.

The screen saver named "Molecule" causes the system to hang while it
shows "Constructing Molecule..." on the screen. This screen saver is
turned on in the default random rotation of screen savers, so it will
eventually happen without any user intervention.

Steps to reproduce:
Open Xfce Menu -> Settings Manager -> Screensaver
Scroll to "Molecule" and click on it.

It freezes the system even if it is only in the small preview window.

Once the system is frozen, it does not respond to any key commands (eg
Ctrl+Alt+F2 to try switching to another terminal and Ctrl+Alt+Bkspc to
restart X both do nothing). However, once the power button is pressed, I
can briefly see it having switched to another terminal before it shuts
down.

The computer on which this occurs is a stock Dell Inspiron 8000
notebook, which has an ATI Rage Mobility M4 AGP (rev 10) graphics card.

I will post lspci -vvnn output and xorg.conf when I'm back on that
machine. Is there any other output that would be helpful?

Thanks!
