*I'm downloading the latest daily build now, and as soon as I have that
up and running, I'll attach those logs.

*How exactly do I turn off Kernel Mode Setting? (Where does the
'radeon.modeset=0' go?)  I guess "unusable" is a bit of a relative
term... the system is usable as long as I don't want to
reposition/resize any windows, and I avoid using menus as much as
possible.  It's bad enough, though, that I couldn't use it as a primary
system - but maybe I'm too picky.

*I had been testing from a clean installation on a USB stick, so fglrx
has never been installed.
