Public bug reported: Hi,
when trying to install from Lucid live cd, my whole computer freezed at the Ubuntu aubergine boot screen.it responded to no keyboard input and I couldn't access any console, so I had to reboot manually. After installing from the alternate cd, the installed system freezed in the same manner. Following the instruction at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Freeze%20during%20boot%20or%20shutdown%20screen I disabled the splash screen and then thing worked normally. Using the rescue mode and then starting X via startx also works. Note than I'm using a nvidia card and than when the nvidia-recent packaged is installed it boot (and blank the whole screen later but that's for another bug report) so it may be related to nouveau ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: xorg 1:7.5+3ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-19.28-generic 2.6.32.10+drm33.1 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-19-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Apr 13 20:16:00 2010 DkmsStatus: InstallationMedia: Error: [Errno 13] Permission non accordée: '/var/log/installer/media-info' ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-19-generic root=UUID=d646b86a-c072-4612-aa10-ef0a272e9142 ro ProcEnviron: LANG=fr_BE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Title: Xorg freeze dmi.bios.date: 02/13/2005 dmi.bios.vendor: Intel Corp. dmi.bios.version: RL86510A.86A.0089.P21.0502132202 dmi.board.name: D865PERL dmi.board.vendor: Intel Corporation dmi.board.version: AAC26719-210 dmi.chassis.type: 2 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnIntelCorp.:bvrRL86510A.86A.0089.P21.0502132202:bd02/13/2005:svn:pn:pvr:rvnIntelCorporation:rnD865PERL:rvrAAC26719-210:cvn:ct2:cvr: glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type system: distro: Ubuntu codename: lucid architecture: i686 kernel: 2.6.32-19-generic ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug freeze i386 lucid -- Freeze during boot with splash on livecd and installed system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562481 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
