On upgrading from 9.10 I can not get over this error that sounds like the problem described above:
Preparing to replace dkms 2.1.0.1-0ubuntu1 (using .../dkms_2.1.1.2-2fakesync1_all.deb) ... dpkg (subprocess): unable to execute old pre-removal script: Exec format error dpkg: warning: old pre-removal script returned error exit status 2 dpkg - trying script from the new package instead ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/dkms_2.1.1.2-2fakesync1_all.deb (--unpack): there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up dpkg (subprocess): unable to execute installed post-installation script: Exec format error dpkg: error while cleaning up: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/dkms_2.1.1.2-2fakesync1_all.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) This is on MacBook Pro 5.3 with 195 Nvidia drivers. I am using the kernel from 9.10 because the latest doe not work.
