Hello,

This bug seems to affect most laptops (inclusive mac) and al desktops using hda
audio . This is already there since launching from ubuntu 9.10. Not one single
proposed option or work around does have any impact on this problem. Upgrading
alsa or using backport drivers just only make things worse. THE ONLY WORKING
SOLUTION IS UNINSTALLING 9.10 COMPLETELY AND RE-INSTALLING UBUNTU 9.04 or
lower. Then hda audio work's fine (for some pc's or laptops with a little
tweaking)
For me it becomes impossible to use ubuntu 9.10 since audio is very very
important and i'm not alone. Ubuntu should consider to go down to all audio
drivers used into 9.04. I'm using gigabyte mb on board realtek azelia audio
ALC889A chipset. Which work's perfect under 9.04 But very bad under 9.10
