The Segfault of the frontend does not happen every time the backend exits like this.
I saw in Mythtv SVN that it was fixed. I do not know about the 0.20-fixes (is that a separate release? Where do I find it?). Have not tested SVN yet though. I tried switching the order of things in the database (remote card was listed with ID 1). But that did not help. Both cards have a VideoSource assigned. Sorry that I cannot be of more help.
