Public bug reported:

emachines T2385

using ubuntu 6.10 i386 live cd
unexpected shutdown while trying to copy system files to the hard drive

used my dapper cd to install (in live cd mode) 6.06 first
then used 6.10 i386 alternate cd to upgrade to 6.10 through update manager

no graphics, but I fixed that after some effort
started up, did no more than play gnometris for about 10 minutes
then another unexpected shutdown

booted up a few more times, and after about 10 minutes it shuts down.

did once notice the "critical temperature" message (while using 6.10
live cd).

I have grub set up to dual boot with windows xp on the same drive, and
xp acts normal.

I believe my case is different that other "critical temperature" shutdown
related bugs listed because
a. this computer is a desktop of 386 architecture
b. it is happening with 6.10 whereas other bug reports are based on earlier
ubuntu versions.

thank you
