ok here you are. The audio plays fine with or without pulse, it seems to be applications that are recording through pulse that are effected. (Audicious records choppy unless i have the pulseaudio volume controls open. ) Strangly enough, chrome (google chrome) has the same effect as start pulseaudio volume up. I start playing say a youtube vid and instantly the visualizer responds correctly. This issue was not present in jaunty, it was in karmic.
