Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

"nvidia-glx" incorporates some userspace tools, like `nvidia-settings`,
linking against gtk2. Since many users don't need this program at all,
and may be using Kubuntu (which does not require gtk2 to be installed at
all), they are forced to install an additional 4 packages they do not
need. As this is a bad thing imo, I suggest splitting "nvidia-glx" in
two packages in the future, with one providing the files necessary for
the proprietary nvidia-drivers to deliver hardware-accelerated
rendering, and one containing the userspace tools, in a package named
sth. like "nvidia-glx-tools" or so.

** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
