Hi there; debian#570122 indeed seems to be the cause here too, with the exception that in the first thunar window opened, only the top-level (window) menus are German. As far as the context menus are concerned, locales are ignored in the first window instance as well. And, the "first instance" of course only works while invoking thunar using commandline or in example from Xubuntus "places" menu. While opening "Home" using the desktop icon, locales are ignored immediately - desktop icons are "first thunar instance" then? Strange, on desktop icons however, context menus do use the "right" locale...
