Public bug reported: Binary package hint: fdupes
I ran fdupes from my home directory with the command: fdupes -dr * According to the manpage and the --help summary, the application should not have followed symlinks, However, it did and asked me to resolve over 600 duplications in /usr/share/doc, to which I had symlinked with a ~/doc entry. br...@xenophon:~$ ls -l total 52 drwxr-x--- 8 bruce bruce 4096 2010-04-07 22:10 bin/ drwxr-x--- 3 bruce bruce 12288 2010-04-07 22:08 configs/ drwxr-xr-x 2 bruce bruce 4096 2010-04-06 17:00 Desktop/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 bruce bruce 14 2010-04-06 14:16 doc -> /usr/share/doc/ drwxr-x--- 37 bruce bruce 12288 2010-04-07 22:21 Documents/ drwxr-xr-x 2 bruce bruce 4096 2010-04-07 18:18 downloads/ drwxr-xr-x 2 bruce bruce 4096 2010-04-06 14:39 mergeddocs/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 bruce bruce 18 2010-04-06 14:15 music -> /media/stor/music// lrwxrwxrwx 1 bruce bruce 15 2010-04-06 14:15 pendrive -> /media/KINGSTON/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 bruce bruce 19 2010-04-06 14:15 pendriveblue -> /media/KINGSTON-new/ drwxr-x--- 2 bruce bruce 4096 2010-04-07 22:07 scratch/ drwxr-xr-x 3 bruce bruce 4096 2010-04-06 20:12 SoftMaker/ drwxr-xr-x 2 bruce bruce 4096 2010-04-06 16:55 Templates/ br...@xenophon:~$ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: fdupes 1.50-PR2-2build1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-19.28-generic 2.6.32.10+drm33.1 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-19-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Apr 7 22:26:20 2010 InstallationMedia: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/installer/media-info' ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_CA.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: fdupes ** Affects: fdupes (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- fdupes follows symlink even when command line parameter *_not_* given https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/557774 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
