I am afraid to tell you that the latest lucid live cd freezes the laptop. It does hang on the first ubuntu logo, and if i try using the keyboard to chose different options and hit Ubuntu without installing i hangs also. To ensure that the CD was burned without errors, i tested it on a second desktop PC (that also runs Ubuntu 9.10) and it took almost 7 minutes (yes you read correct, almost 7 minutes) to boot and show the Desktop. Back to my laptop i asked to check the CD and for my surprise it also freezes. IMO this is kernel issue or video driver. I dont get Kernel Panic, it just Freeze the laptop and i need to turn off the computer to restart.
I am unable to test karmic latest mainline kernel for the same reason. I had to recover as you could see in previous message. I know this is not related to Bug #470780 alsa-driver, but i cannot install kernel 2.6.34 and i guess this is lucid beta too, right? How can i help ubuntu team without breaking my ubuntu 9.10?
