@bomagainpenguin -- Have you tried to manually configure wireless adapter using iwconfig command from a shell prompt? I have not tried Lucid yet, but that has worked for me on several other distros including different flavors of Ubuntu. Once the connection is established the first time, subsequent connections are automatically established via network manager. Not a fix, but possibly a work-around.
