I'm closing this bug because I've received no response from the original 
reporter nor from any commenter.
Please test the latest Ubuntu version (9.10 or 10.04) and report a new bug if 
necessary.

Also please note that the bcm43xx driver has been replaced by b43 and b43legacy 
in the latest Ubuntu releases.
But you still need to download the firmware for them, either manually or by 
installing b43-fwcutter while on a wired (cable) connection.
