I disagree: This was a convenient way to cope with buggy BIOSes sinces ages... and should not have been removed without any alternative.
This is clearly a regression for Lucid compared to Hardy: With a reworked DSDT.aml: -In hardy (and before): Just copy DSDT.aml in /etc/initramfs-tools/ and at 1st time, one dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-$(uname -r) for 1st time only (as reconfigure is after done automatically at each kernel update). -Now: Get kernel sources at each update, edit config to give a DSDT.aml path, recompile kernel... and pray for your GPU not frying during recompile/reboot time if you cannot do the job on another machine. Well, if for you this is not a regession, we have a word definition problem... ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- Linux 2.6.26 not loading custom DSDT from initrd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246222 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
