For completeness, this is the X.org log (from a clean boot of a lucid
beta-2 live system). It shows that it tries to settle for a 1024x768
resolution for both screens, but for some reason the external one stays
blank. It might be because xrandr decides to only show the internal one
by default, or the non-native resolution somehow conflicts with KMS/the
plymouth transition patch, etc.
