Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
When I call Hibernate or Suspend (whether via fn+f5 key or Power->Suspend|Hibernate menu or simply closing the lid) the screen goes black but doesn't completely switch off because in its right left corner I can still see blinking cursor and am able to change dim brightness using fn+f7, fn+f8 buttons. After this laptop won't wake up/resume. I tried various combination of keys as well as power button but to no avail. The only way to get it out of this state is to do reboot. In output generated by dmesg I found: PM: Resume from disk failed. ============= Description: Ubuntu 9.10 Release: 9.10 (64-bit) vmlinuz-2.6.31-20-generic ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Apr 5 23:38:45 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release amd64 (20091027) NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: gnome-power-manager 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.3 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-20.58-generic SourcePackage: gnome-power-manager Uname: Linux 2.6.31-20-generic x86_64 XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:1767): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (gnome-settings-daemon:1767): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (nautilus:1865): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:1885): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (firefox:2031): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- HP dv6809wm laptop fails to resume after Hibernate/Suspend/Closing the lid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556201 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
