The same happened on my Ubuntu Studio 10.04, the quick fix provided by embecka works. I had to dpkg-reconfigure --force ubuntustudio-plymouth- theme using that method with recent http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/u/ubuntustudio-look /ubuntustudio-look_0.38.2.tar.gz source. No problems with upgrading ubuntustudio-look now...
