Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
1) I am using Ubuntu 9.10, but this issue also exists in Lucid (beta 1) and Ubuntu 9.04. 2) I have version 1.1.2-1ubuntu7 xserver-xorg-input-synaptics installed in Ubuntu 9.10. 3) I expected to be able to access the Touchpad tab in System -> Preferences -> Mouse. 4) There is no Touchpad tab in the Mouse settings. I was guided to report this bug by https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad#Troubleshooting and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection (specifically section 3). Attached is the output of "xinput list" and the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log, /proc/bus/input/devices, and dmesg.
