Frank,

No matter what you do, whether it be making a logo or composing a
soundtrack, someone is going to complain if there is something wrong.
"That looks disgusting!" "That song offends my religion!" "I don't like
the way you wrote that!"

Ubuntu is going to be catering to everybody, and if there is a large
group (like now) that complains about it, it will most likely be
changed. I actually didn't notice the splash myself, nor did I really
care once it was pointed out. But there was a population of people
(Digg) that apparently had a problem with it, so it was changed.

The logo was swapped now with an even newer edition, and there is a low
chance that it will be changed back. The logo mentioned in this bug was
online for less than a week, and we already have a newer edition, which
doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it. It is changed now, so
let's just let this issue go for now. :-)
