I've seen that word size and base are in preferences but is not so easy to make 
base conversions "on the fly" with that.
the old version has radio buttons that permits changing base (and obtain the 
conversion) with just one click.
As a programmer (old "C" style...) I use a lot the conversion between hex, dec 
and binary and the old solution with the radio buttons was easy and really fast 
(as nice as the clickable bits!)
