The appearance of this bug seems to be changed. When I login the fist time 
after boot, the normal (non failsafe) session works.
When I log off and try login again the session doesn't become usable. The 
resulting .xsession-errors still contains complaints about "Fatal IO error 11 
(Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0" of many applications but 
the "Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :0.0." is gone.
