** Description changed:

  I have a laptop here (Toshiba Satellite L25) with an Atheros 2413
  wireless card.

  In each version of Ubuntu I tried, I can see the SSID of my wireless out
  of box. However, when trying to connect, I get the following:

  8.04.4 = Works with WPA.
  9.04 = Works with WPA.
  9.10 = Works unsecured, not with WPA.
  10.04 March 28th Daily Build = Works unsecured, not with WPA.

  With 9.10, I also tried "WICD" network manager, and it too didn't yield
  any differences.
+
+ EDIT - when working with 8.04.4, 9.04, and 9.10, they were as updated as
+ humanly possible as of March 28th. In each instance, they had the newest
+ kernel possible.
