I think my problem is the same as this bug, when I use push "redirect- gateway def 1" it fails to change the default gateway.
I see the following error in syslog: nm-openvpn[22655]: ERROR: Linux route add command failed: shell command exited with error status: 7 I was going to report this on the NM List but I wanted to make sure that this wasn't a Ubuntu specific issue.
