OK after I did this mornings update things have changed for the worse. I dunno what changed as there were ~125 updates. I do get vga16fb loading:
~$ lsmod | grep vga vga16fb 12757 1 vgastate 9857 1 vga16fb I do not get a graphical boot. All the tty terminals are borked and only show a flashing cursor 2/3rds of the way up the screen and 1/3 of the way from the left. To tell you the truth I would rather have functioning tty's than a fancy graphics that only appear for a few seconds anyway. This is why I did not use the set gfxpayload=keep in 00_Header.
