I was having the same issue described in the OP. I'm running 10.04 32bit with all the latest updates on a Dell Latitude D630 and Intel 4965. I use WPA2 with AES and default settings on TX power and such. I tried everything on my card that I could think of and after all of that, I changed my Linksys WRT320N to wireless G only rather than the default mixed (ABGN) mode. I have NO disconnects since. Not one.
