this happened to me also while trying to install filezilla. I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and sc 1.0.3. Apt-get won't work b/c software center is locking /var/lib/dpkg I can't seem to kill sc process correctly since it restarts with 70% of filezilla installing and it is still hanging.
