Public bug reported: Just updated to 10.04 on an Asus Pundit-R machine running an ATI 9100 IGP graphics chip.
On two occasions since upgrading via the update manager yesterday, the following has happened: * Logged into a standard gnome session running at 1680x1050 on a Samsung 226BW 22" TFT connected via VGA * Several hours of light use (web, email etc.) * Using a desktop app (mail client and a file browser) * Screen spontaneously blanks * Monitor displays a floating message saying "Not Optimum Mode. Recommended mode 1670x1050 60Hz." To resolve I pressed Alt + F4 to switch to a console (or logged in remotely via ssh) and restarted GDM to return to the login screen. Naturally, all state and work on the desktop is lost. I've attached the output of apport just after this happened. As a likely related aside, the DVI output doesn't seem to drive the monitor any more (the monitor just sits there searching for a signal once the machine is past POST) - DVI output worked fine in 9.10 but has since stopped in 10.04. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: blank lucid resolution screen xorg -- Screen randomly blanks with a "not optimum mode" monitor message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/548956 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
