Public bug reported:

I tried installing Lucid beta ( 10.04 ) using lucid-alternate-amd64.iso,
The cd booted fine, but during installation the CD drive was not
recognized. Retried installing using lucid-alternate-i386.iso, this
produced the same problem.

in Landscape this cd drive is recognized as : 
/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_DVD_RW_AD_5540A

Laptop description :
Product identifier:     EasyNote_MX61 (PACKARD BELL)
Hardware:        AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.97GB RAM  
(vendor is Optiarc)
