In Ubuntu 9.10 the "ERROR: FOUND UNSUPPORTED PHY" was the same message but it
managed to boot the Live CD which is not the case in 10.04.
It seems also to have some problems with a "usb device on port 2" of course I
had NO usb devices plugged in at this time.

The only way to get Lucid working at the moment is to install karmic
koala(9.10) and then do the "update-manager -d" command. This will update the
system to Lucid but sound will not work because it didn't work in Karmic either.
Also if you try to install the proprietary Nvidia driver with the "Hardware
Driver" section in the menu of Ubuntu, it will fail to install. So if you
upgrade from Karmic to Lucid you have a) No sound and b) no 3D proprietary
Nvidia driver.

I really hope this problem gets fixed, so that the MacBook Pro will be
able to boot into the Lucid desktop.
