Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
This seems similar to bug 432779, except that my system doesn't reboot,
it just hangs on the ubuntu bootsplash screen.
It only seems to happen after I:
1) Setup my second monitor
2) Restart my computer with the second monitor still plugged in
At this point, the ubuntu boot splash appears, the dots animate for a 5
seconds or so, and then all go red as if it's about to run X, but the
display never updates from that point.
I can't get to a tty either (at least, the display doesn't update with
<alt>-<ctrl>-<F1>).
I'm assuming it's related to nouveau, but it's just a guess. Unplugging
the external monitor allows me to boot normally and set up the dual
monitor again.
